It’s difficult to find a duo that has defined Australian music as much as Hermitude.
Across the last two decades, Hermitude – consisting of Elgusto and Luke Dubs, both from the Blue Mountains – have consistently kept evolution and experimentation at the forefront of their craft, paving new directions amongst the electronic, hip-hop and pop spaces that have kept them not just ahead of the curve, but defining the curve’s every move.
Award-winning multi-instrumentalists, Hermitude have moved from strength to strength since meeting in their early teens. First signing to Elefant Traks in 2002, the pair have marked out a sonic footprint that is defined by their hip-hop roots and electronic soundscapes, before expanding and pairing with Nettwerk Records for the last three albums. Their 2012 album, Hyperparadise won the Australian Music Prize and would see its title track reach #38 on the ARIA Charts and its Flume remix hit speakers everywhere, with singles going Gold and double platinum. Their follow-up album, Dark Night Sweet Light debuted at #1 on the ARIA Charts, with single “The Buzz” firmly placing them on the world map. Their 6th album Pollyanarchy again reflected the duo’s development as they became a global force doing headline tours and festivals across Europe, Asia and North America, from Governors Ball to Reading to Splendour in the Grass.
The collaborative nature of their relationship has extended to their broader collabs, working with the likes of Bibi Bourelly, BJ The Chicago Kid, Kimbra, Vic Mensa, Vory, Flume and numerous others. They’re remixed artists like Odesza, Crooked Colours, Alison Wonderland and many more.
Hermitude’s most recent album, 2022’s Mirror Mountain was the duo returning to their roots during the prolonged covid era, a love letter to their hometown of the Blue Mountains.
In 2023, they've switched it up again with a drum & bass tune named Celebrate alongside an extensive US tour as they continue on the never ending quest for new sounds.
